YMCA offers free fitness fun at Riverfront Park Saturday

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA’s Day in the Park promises to be filled with a variety of fun and health activities for the whole family.

The sixth annual event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Niles Riverfront Park and the amphitheater.

There, participants will find YMCA fitness instructors and staff ready to

assist them in experiencing several different fitness courses, including:

• Cycling

• Yoga

• BARRE

• Boot camp

• Zumba

• Core Fusion

• Power Balance

There will also be fitness classes for kids 5 years and older such as:

• Animal Yoga

• RIPPED 4 Kids

• Zumba drums

• Creative balance

Daycare will be available for younger children at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA starting at 8:45 a.m.

This is a free event to the community with no registration required. Everyone welcome, from the beginner to the fitness enthusiast.

“We truly want to reach out to individuals who want or need Health and Fitness in their lives,” said Lacey Peters, of the YMCA. “We are here to motivate, inspire, assist, guide and show people the way to a better and healthier lifestyle. This event could be exactly what the health seekers need to get started with their goals or to push some to the next level.”

Classes are being cancelled at the YMCA on the day of the event.

There will be refreshments, door prizes, T-shirts, massages, health exhibits, staff to and a free lunch at 1 p.m. following the activities.

Motivational guest speaker, Sheena O’Connor York, will be presenting her 162-weight loss story at noon. She was seen on the “Biggest Loser” reality television show’s season 15 finale.

Also, Be Healthy Berrien will be kicking off the 2nd Annual Million mile Challenge.

Be Healthy Berrien’s goal is to help and support the mission to have Berrien County participate and record one million miles of activity by September. Berrien County residents can log any physical activity by visiting www.Behealthyberrien.org.
