Nancy Lee Howley, 73, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Thursday, May 29, 2014, in the presence of her family and a very special friend, Pat, at Lakeland Hospital, Niles.

She was born Jan. 30, 1941, in Batavia, New York to Leon and Marian (Werth) Baker. She married Thomas John Howley Nov. 16, 1978, in Adamsville, Michigan. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2005.

Nancy attended Downers Grove (Illinois) High School. She loved her job at Quaker Oats in Chicago, Illinois. Nancy served as the guidance office secretary of Ross Beatty High School for more than 27 years. She was passionate about her flowers and gardening.

Nancy will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Lee and Jeffrey East of Richland, Michigan; one grandson, Zachary Councell of Richland; one brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Deborah Baker, Jr. of Hazel Crest, Illinois; two nephews, Douglas (Jennifer) Baker and Daniel Baker, both of Illinois; one niece, Carrie Ann (Wade) Harvey of Illinois; great-nieces and nephew, Kaitlynn, Noah and Avery Harvey and Gabriella Baker; and her beloved kitty, Tinkerbell.

Family and friends will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis. Services for Nancy will be at 2 p.m. June 3, 2014, with visitation one hour prior at Cass Fellowship Bible Church, 64016 M-62 South, Cassopolis, with Pastor John Sears officiating.

The family prefers contributions in Nancy’s name be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Southwest Regional Office, 350 East Michigan Avenue, Suite 20, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007.
