Duckett wins state hurdles championship

COMSTOCK PARK — Led by state champion Andrew Duckett, the Brandywine boys track finished eighth at the Division 3 Track and Field Championships Saturday.

Duckett won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 39.17, while teammate Nathan Anders was third with a time of 40.02.

Duckett was also fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.16.

Division 2

GRAND RAPIDS — Dowagiac’s Kyle Solloway cleared 6-5 in the high jump[ to finish third at the Division 2 Track and Field Championships at Houseman Field Saturday.

The Chieftains’ Creiona Rogers finished fifth in the high jump with a height of 5-5.

The Niles 800-meter relay team of Maya Brookins, Ashiah Brookins, Lashonda Green and Tatyanna Goodson finished second with a time of 1:43.26.

The Vikings’ Balaj Bruckner was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 49-9.25.

Cassopolis’ 800-meter relay team finished third and its 400-meter relay team was fifth at the Division 4 Track and Field Championships in Hudsonville.

The 800-meter of Kortenei Suggs, Nakiela Sinclair, Kaylyn Forrest and KayAnna Williams ran a time of 1:48.92. The 400-meter squad of Suggs, Forrest, Janye Butts and Williams posted a time of 52.44.
