Dowagiac Lions host White Cane Week

The Dowagiac Lions Club will host its annual White Cane fundraising drive from June 5-7.

White Cane funds can only be used for aid to individuals in the Dowagiac area who need assistance with sight and hearing problems and to support Lions’ programs such as Leader Dogs for the Blind and Michigan Eye Bank.

Over the past 58 years, thousands of Dowagiac citizens have received financial help from the Lions Club that helps them to afford appropriate treatments.  All white cane funds go directly to service providers for the sight and hearing impaired.  There are no administrative, advertising or mailing costs taken from White Cane funds.

During this three-day drive, Lions Club members will be out in the community seeking help to provide this vital service to local citizens who have demonstrated a need for help.

This year, the needs of the people of Dowagiac have increased. The Lions Club hopes the community will continue to provide its support with generous contributions.
