BRIDGMAN — Kelly Harper kept the Brandywine softball team’s season alive against Bridgman in the Division 3 pre-district contest Tuesday.

Harper scattered eight hits and doubled in the Bobcats’ 12-8 victory.

The win should have been much easier for Brandywine, but a five-run seventh made things interesting for the defending district champion.

The Bobcats got off to a quick start, scoring five runs in the first and leading 7-0 after two innings.

The Bees (25-14) scored twice in the bottom of the third and after trailing 12-2, scratched out a run in the bottom of the fifth to keep the game from ending via the mercy rule.

Brandywine, which will face arch rival Buchanan in the district in Coloma on Saturday, finished with 15 hits, including three each from Michaela Hartline, Morgan Crocker and Sam Bell, who homered for the Bobcats.
