John Patrick Gartland, III, “JP”, 36, of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at his residence after battling a long illness.
He married Cheryl Lloyd on March 31, 2007.
JP is survived by his mother, Debra Barnum, stepfather Keith Barnum, his father, John Patrick Gartland, Jr. of Georgia, one brother Karl (Misty), two children, John Patrick Gartland IV and Jalynn Rose Gartland of Buchanan, grandmother Gladys Sahli of Cassopolis, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
JP loved the outdoors, Lake Michigan trips with his family and auto racing at M-40 Speedway.
Family and friends will gather from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 19, at the Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway St., Cassopolis, with the Reverend Martha Cooper officiating.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made to the family to help defer funeral expenses or in JP’s name to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
