With rain and cold in the forecast for today through Saturday, the Division 2 Regional Tennis Tournament at Lakeshore High School has been postponed until Monday.

“We have contacted the state and gained approval to play the regional on Monday,” Lancer Athletic Director Greg Younger said. “The forecast for Thursday has gotten better in regards to rain, but has gotten significantly worse in regards to temperature, wind and wind chill. Friday showed occasional showers and still temperatures in the 40s.

“Saturday also has rain in the forecast. With the chance of rain each day and the lack of indoor court availability, it is not a good option to play those days and be sitting inside waiting for courts to dry and driving back and forth multiple days to complete the region tournament.”

Younger added that Monday will follow the same schedule as today with the coaches meeting at 8 a.m.

Niles and Edwardsburg are both playing in the Division 2 tournament.

The Division 4 regional tournament, which was also scheduled for today at Leeper Park in South Bend, has been postponed until Monday.

Buchanan is the host school. Brandywine, Cassopolis and Dowagiac are also competing in the Division 4 event.

Play is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Leeper Park.
