The League of Women Voters of Berrien and Cass Counties and American Electric Power (AEP)/Indiana Michigan Power (I & M) are sponsoring a presentation on THE GRID at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at the AEP/Cook administrative building, 500 Circle Drive, Buchanan, north of the city center on the bluff overlooking the St. Joe River.

Coming from the Indiana Michigan Power Company’s Fort Wayne office to speak are Marc Lewis, Vice President Regulatory and External Affairs, and Archie Pugh, Managing Director for AEP Transmission Services.

The electric grid reliably supplies us all with our power, except when it doesn’t, as with storms, malfunctions, etc. How reliable is the electric distribution system? Is it flexible enough to work with alternative energy sources? How secure is it? Who owns and maintains the grid? Is it regulated? And who plans for its future? There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.

This meeting is open to the public and there is no charge. It is part of a series of League meetings on energy sources, transport and policies. For more information on the League and its activities go to lwvbcc.org and visit us on Facebook.
