Baker captures Big 16 high jump title

ST. JOSEPH — Miranda Baker captured a Big 16 Conference championship in the high jump at St. Joseph High School Saturday.

Baker cleared 5-4 to bring home Niles’ only championship.

The Vikings finished fourth in the girls standings. Portage Northern captured the team title with 99.5 points. Battle Creek Lakeview was second with 90 points.

Lakeview captured the boys championship with 117.5 points. Kalamazoo Central was second with 84 points.

Niles finished ninth.

The top boys finish came in the 800-meter relay where Connor Amburg, Josh Buckingham, Elijah Thompson and Nick Noll finished second with a time of 1:32.31.
