Dowagiac hosts Frazier Memorial Saturday

Last weekend the Dowagiac softball team left behind the Wolverine Conference West Division and jumped into tournament action.

This weekend the Chieftain baseball team will do the same as they host the annual Bryan Frazier Memorial at Rotary Park on Saturday.

Dowagiac will play Hartford in the opening game at 10 a.m. with Buchanan taking on Benton Harbor in the second game at 12:15 p.m.

The consolation game will be played at 2:30 with the title game slated for 4:45 p.m.

Each game will be five innings with a two-hour time limit.

Prior to Saturday’s tournament, the Chieftains will travel to Niles to face Brandywine in a non-league doubleheader today at 4 p.m.

The Dowagiac softball team will also take on host Brandywine today at 4 p.m.

The Chieftain soccer team will host Three Rivers in a Wolverine West Division match at 5 p.m. today. Dowagiac is trying to stay in the thick of the title chase after suffering its first loss against South Haven Monday night.

The Chieftains are tied with Edwardsburg, which it plays Monday night, at 2-1. Both teams are a game behind the Rams.

Dowagiac will wrap up its week at the Edwardsburg Invitational on Saturday. Play begins at 9 a.m.

The Chieftain track team gets a tune up for the Division 2 regional Friday afternoon when it travels to Allegan for an invitational that begins at 2 p.m.

Dowagiac’s golf team will try to wrap up the Wolverine Conference West Division championship on Friday when it heads to Three Rivers for the final jamboree of the year.
