Plew no-hitter leads Bobcats to sweep

Chandler Plew tossed a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts as visiting Brandywine swept a key Lakeland Conference doubleheader from Cassopolis Tuesday.

The Bobcats improved to 4-0 in league play as they defeated the Rangers 7-0 and 14-7.

Brandywine banged out 12 hits in the opener led by Cole Searles who was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Zach Grishaber and Plew both had two hits, including a double, while Hunter Jankowiak also had two hits.

Plew and Toby Fox both drove in a pair of runs.

In the nightcap, Plew went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs, while Grishaber, Kyle Duncan, Fox and Jankowiak all had two hits.

Matt Vaughn worked the first three and two-third innings to earn the win. Searles worked the final inning and a third as the two combined on a four-hitter.

The Rangers got a double from Jeremiah Hartsell.
