A proposal that will secure funds for building construction and repairs in the Buchanan Community Schools district passed easily during Tuesday’s special election.

Residents voted 455 to 174 to renew a tax levy for the district’s building and site sinking fund.

The renewal is for a period of 10 years. It was set to expire at the end of this year.

The district is expected to receive around $210,000 in 2015 from the levy.

The millage rate of eight-tenths of a mill will be assessed on all property within the district. It’s the same millage rate as before.
