Jon Robert Stone, 53

Jon Robert Stone, 53, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest as the result of an accident at Five Points on May 1, 2014.

Jon was born July 23, 1960 in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Robert Drexel Stone and Doris Treva McCollough, and has lived in Edwardsburg all of his life. He graduated from Edwardsburg High School and was a man with many friends. He was the owner of Jon’s Septic and Excavating, LLC and enjoyed his work.

Jon never met a stranger, and loved to make his friends laugh with his jokes. He loved hunting, playing poker, going to classic car shows, building hot-rods and fishing was great fun. He really enjoyed his own excavating company. He liked the car club meetings with Michiana Road Knights, having been its president.

He loved to mow his own lawn, it seemed to relax him. Of all the many friends and buddies that Jon made, he especially enjoyed the company of Dave Trout. One other thing that Jon was fond of, he considered his children’s dogs (Tanner and Harley) his ‘grand-dogs’. Also there was a special barn cat named Buddy.

Jon was married on Nov. 10, 1984 at the Mason Township Baptist Church, rural Cassopolis, to Linda Ayers and she survives with their children, Ashley Renee’ Stone and Justin Lee (Laura Lin Donath) Stone, both of Edwardsburg. Jon’s sisters; Rhonda Harmon of Cassopolis, Marcia (Terry) Sharp of Edwardsburg and Bobbie Stone of Elkhart. His brothers are Randy (Judy) Stone and Scott (Tammy Cope) Stone of Edwardsburg.

Family who have passed are his parents and a sister, Penny Jo, in infancy.

Family and friends may gather today from 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. at the Adamsville Road Church of God, 51287 Country Road 7, Elkhart. The Service of Remembrance will be on Tuesday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at the church, with a gathering time for one hour before the service. Burial followed at the Adamsville Cemetery.
