COA hosts talk on Obamacare

Published 8:16 pm Sunday, May 4, 2014

On Thursday, May 8, the Cass County COA will present a special program at both its locations that will not only address the history of health policy in the U.S. but its uncertain future as well.

A former Washington, D.C. Federal Health Policy Advocate will present an unbiased look at “The Evolution of Health Care Policy: From Medicare to Obamacare.”

The program will be presented by Jack Strayer a former Washington DC public policy consultant.

His areas of expertise include market-based health insurance reform, prescription drug coverage and senior entitlement issues including Social Security and Medicare reform.

The history of health care in the United States goes back generations.  Strayer will provide a background on where health care has been and where it is headed.  He is well versed on the issues of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, and will speak on that topic as well as answer questions.

This is a rare opportunity to receive a “beltway” perspective on the issue of health care and take a look at where it is going.  Mr. Strayer will speak on Thursday, May 8, at Lowe Center from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and at Front Street Crossing from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The Lowe Center is located at 60525 Decatur Rd. and Highway 60 in Cassopolis, and Front Street Crossing is at 227 S. Front St. in Dowagiac.

The Cass County COA is a community organization offering programs and services for adults in all life stages.
