BENTON HARBOR — The Niles softball team made short work of host Benton Harbor in Big 16 West Division softball Wednesday.

The Vikings needed just three innings in both games to knock off the Tigers.

A 10-run third inning led to a 17-2 Niles win in the opening game. The Vikings scored 12 runs in the second inning of the nightcap en route to a 20-5 win.

Nichole Keefe was the winning pitcher in the first game, while Holly Walker was the winning pitcher in the nightcap.

Tala Gentry had a double and a triple in the two games. Taylor Gibson, Courtney Ankrapp and Kylee Myer also doubled for the Vikings.

“I feel we just came out and did our jobs tonight,” Niles coach Ryan Frontzak said. “We were able to rest some girls and have some girls who have not gotten a lot of time this year some much needed time. The nice thing is these girls came in and did their jobs and played well. It was nice to see how our girls just come out and play Niles softball.”
