The rock and roll nutrition show “Jump with Jill” announced that Patrick Hamilton Elementary has won the show in a statewide contest thanks to the generosity of Michigan’s dairy farmers and milk processors and the folks at the United Dairy Industry of Michigan (UDIM) as part of their Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

The tour will visit the school on May 8.

Winning schools not only get a rockin’ live performance but also receive “Jump with Jill” educational materials, including a copy of the “Get Me Goin’” danceable music video produced in Jenison, Mich., that was released for National School Breakfast Week May 3-7.

Winning schools are hard at work learning the dance moves so they can show Jill and DJ that breakfast rocks. The statewide tour of Michigan elementary schools runs from March 17 to June 4, and will include 35 schools.

“Our partnership with UDIM allowed us to rock 56,000 kids throughout the state in 2013,” gushes Hailey McDonell, a Detroit-native who stars as “Jill” in the Michigan “Jump with Jill” cast. “I can’t wait to bring this experience to even more schools.” The cast also stars Holland-native Devon Watson as “DJ” who can be seen as Mr. Desayuno in the Get Me Goin’ video.  Devon even shaved his head for the role. “Dairy is one of easiest and richest ways that kids can get the calcium they need for strong bones,” says Amy Viselli, RD of the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. “Jump with Jill has serious fun with a serious message. They even dress up a milk jug as a rapper named Calcium.”

Jump with Jill is a live rock and roll nutrition show. Created by Registered Dietitian and musician Jill Jayne, the show uses singable messages to make healthy habits memorable including eating vegetables (“Superpower Vegetables!”), enjoying fruit (“Nature’s Candy”), and exercising regularly (“The Beat of Our Body!”). Armed with catchy songs, upbeat dance moves, and a hip wardrobe, Jump with Jill uses the same tools normally used to sell junk food and keep kids sedentary to get kids engaged, moving, and learning about healthy habits.
