Allen records perfect game for Chieftains

BENTON HARBOR — Alyssa Allen recorded the second perfect game of the season for Dowagiac as the visiting Chieftains swept Benton Harbor in non-league softball Thursday.
Dowagiac (14-1) defeated the Tigers 19-2 and 17-0. Both games lasted just three innings.
The Chieftains finished the day with 36 hits, including 10 extra base hits.
Taylor Hulett was 2-for-3 with a triple, an inside-the-park home run and four RBIs in the opener. Kourtney Mitchell was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs, while Allen and McKenzie Herter both doubled. Herter also drove in three runs.
In the nightcap, Riley Daly was 2-for-2 with a pair of triples. Mitchell was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Hulett was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Carrie Raab drove in two runs and Zoe Michael doubled.
