STEVENSVILLE — Miscues and missed opportunities left the Niles softball team on the short end of a pair of games against Lakeshore Thursday.

The Vikings fell to the Lancers 15-3 in the first game in six innings and 8-1 in the nightcap of the Big 16 West Division doubleheader.

Tala Gentry took the lose in both games.

Kylee Myer and Mackenzie Shields had doubles for the Vikings, who dip to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the West Division.

“It was a frustrating night,” Niles coach Ryan Frontczak said. “We just made way too many mistakes. It’s funny because we hit the ball really well and we had runners in scoring position every inning but two. That says something about playing Lakeshore. We could not finish and get the runs in.”
