MATTAWAN — The Niles soccer team finally opened its season Wednesday night.

The Vikings were blanked by host Mattawan 4-0 in a Big 16 West Division match.

Kathryn Nutter had a hat trick for the Wildcats, who improved to 3-1 on the year.

Emily Casey and Bailee Kessler combined for 11 saves for Niles, which was outshot by Mattawan 15-2.
