The Dowagiac softball team had to work a little overtime to pick up a pair of wins Wednesday.

The Chieftains defeated visiting Vicksburg 7-4 in the first game and then edged the Bulldogs 5-3 in eight innings of the nightcap.

Alyssa Allen went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles in the first game and Taylor Hulett also doubled for the Chieftains. Kourtney Mitchell was 2-for-4.

Sabrina Ruiz improved to 3-1 as she picked up the victory.

In the nightcap, Hullett scattered five hits to improve to 4-0 in the circle.

Dowagiac had eight hits, led by McKenzie Herter who was 3-for-4. Allen was 2-for-4.
