Spring has arrived

Is it spring yet?

Well, it certainly felt that way last weekend. Judging by the forecasts projected over the next days (rain, rain, cloudy, more rain), I think it’s safe to say Mother Nature has finally gotten the memo that we’re ready for something besides snow to start falling from the heavens.

More importantly, I think we’re all ready to finally ditch our gloves, scarves and parkas for a while, and enjoy some warmer temperatures.

As for me, I’m just excited about all the new opportunities awaiting me this season. Not only is it my first spring here in Dowagiac, but, with the new Daily News office downtown, I’ll get to spend a lot more time with my new neighbors.

One of things I was bummed about moving here during Snowapoolza was the fact that I didn’t really get a lot of opportunities to spend some quality time around the city. Heck, like a lot of other people, there were some days I couldn’t even leave my apartment, much less be able to go out and get a bite to eat somewhere.

With the break in the weather though, I’m looking forward to taking leisurely walks downtown, stopping by Caruso’s or Twistees to get some ice cream. Maybe I’ll get a chance to check out the new walking path at Russom Park.

Even when plastered with more than foot of snow and ice, Dowagiac is beautiful place to live. I’m sure I won’t be changing my mind on that once the city is finally thawed out.
