Bertrand Farm, a local sustainable educational farm, announced a partnership on Saturday, March 29, with Enbridge Energy Partners, L.P. to promote environmental stewardship and sustainable solutions educational programs. An open house was held at the farm and was well attended by the local community.

During the event, tours of the facility were provided showcasing the animals, facilities and grounds. Bertrand Farm staff discussed summer programming including Farm Camp, Community Sponsored Agriculture (CSA) memberships, beginner gardening and farming classes, and cooking and preserving classes.

“We are excited to roll out our new programming and to be coming back to the community stronger than ever this Spring. We are thankful to Enbridge for sponsoring this open house and for partnering with us to provide quality educational programming that supports sustainability and earth stewardship,” said Theri Niemier, director of Bertrand Farm. “We look forward to a strong relationship with Enbridge and some new and exciting programming to develop because of this partnership.”

“Enbridge is pleased to join with Bertrand Farm in support of environmental stewardship and healthy living initiatives,” said Tom Hodge, Enbridge project director. “When we learned about the good work that was occurring at Bertrand Farm, Enbridge saw an opportunity to elevate the farm’s reach so that more people could benefit from these types of programs.”

Bertrand Farm is accepting applications for enrollment in 2014 summer programs. The farm spans nearly 11 acres and includes an active barnyard, three acres of organic vegetable production and two acres of perennial fruit.
