Dora Gallas, 91 of Stevensville, passed away Monday, March 17 at CrownPointe Assisted Living.

Dora was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Riga, Lativia to Gustav & Julianna (Lutz) Nickel. At the age of two, Dora’s family immigrated to America where the family settled in Benton Harbor.

She learned to speak English while attending school and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1942. On Dec. 16, 1950, she wed Alfred Gallas.

Dora kept a busy schedule caring for her home and children. She worked part-time at Sears Catalog for 10 years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing the organ and reading.

She is survived by her son Greg (Vicki) Gallas of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughter Cynthina (Paul) Ayars of Lincoln, Ill.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Alfred in 1995, and siblings Erica, Elsa, Arnie and Art.
