Elise Purucker, 95, of Niles passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at her home.

Elise was born Oct. 20, 1918, to Pliney S. and Lena M. (Gibson) Atkinson in Darlington, S.C.

She married Bernard Purucker on July 4, 1943, at a ceremony in Charleston, S.C. He preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 2000.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Marie) Purucker of Niles; daughter, Nell R. Finch of Buchanan; brother, David; sisters, Jean, Joyce, Shirley, Juanita, Sarah, and Ila, all of South Carolina; grandchildren, Tina, Daniel, Nathan, and Mathew; great-grandchildren, Brian, Baley and LeeAnn; and great-great-grandchildren, Jude and Kai.

Elise is also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Elbert, Ralph, and Nello; and sisters, Oris, Topsy, and Ivy.

Funeral services for Elise will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, with Pastor Bradford Payne officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery in Edwardsburg.
