Niles’ Todd Hesson was selected by his peers as the Coach of the Year on the All-Southwest Michigan Wrestling Team.

Hesson’s Vikings were 22-5 this past season and reached the Division 2 state semifinals for the second consecutive season.

Niles accomplished all that with just one senior in its regular starting lineup.

Watervliet’s Brock Thumm, who was the Diivsion 4 state champion at 135-pounds, was named Wrestler of the Year.

Niles had a pair of first team selections in Brendon Meek (112) and Josh Dayhuff (119). Lakeshore led the all-star team with three first team picks.

The All-Southwest Michigan Wrestling Team is selected by the area coaches.
