Eddies advance to championship game

THREE RIVERS — It wasn’t easy, but the Edwardsburg boys basketball team advanced to the Class B District finals with a 52-41 win over host Three Rivers Wednesday night.

The Eddies, who had previously defeated the Wildcats twice during the regular season, couldn’t pull away during the first three quarters.

Despite leading 15-14 after one and 24-22 at halftime, Edwardsburg found itself deadlocked with Three Rivers at 35 as the two teams headed into the final quarter.

The Eddies outscored the Wildcats 17-6 in the last eight minutes to advance to Friday night’s championship game against Sturgis, who held off Vicksburg 52-49.

Isaac Vite led Edwardsburg with 13 points, while Dylan Hulett and Dante Razzano added 12 and 11 respectively.

Alex Cotingham scored a game-high 14 points for Three Rivers.

Friday night’s tip-off at Three Rivers is set for 7 p.m.
