Martzke named Realtor of the Year

Chris Marzke, a licensed associate broker with @properties Harbor Country in St. Joseph, was named the 2014 Realtor of the Year for the Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors at their Annual Awards Luncheon held recently at the Shadowland Ballroom on Silver Beach in St. Joseph.

Marzke has been licensed since 1998, obtaining his broker’s license in December 2004, and holds the National Association of Realtors professional designations Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Graduate Realtors Institute (GRI) and the e-PRO certification.  Chris currently serves on the Southwestern Michigan Association Board of Directors as past president, serving as president during 2013, President-Elect in 2012 and Treasurer in 2011.  He also serves on the Finance Committee that he chaired in 2011 along with the REIS Technology Committee.  He has also served on the Governmental Affairs Committee from 2006 through 2010, chairing the Committee in 2009.

Marzke has been a consistent MLS Sales Producer receiving either the Gold, Platinum or Diamond Award each year since 2002.  He also received the Silver Life Award in 2005 and the Gold Life Award in 2007.

Chris has been on the Berrien County Land Preservation Board since 2006.  The Board reviews properties to be included in the Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) program to promote preserving farmland and other properties of significance. He also has been a Board Member on the St. Joseph Junior Foundation since 1998.  The foundation’s mission is to promote sailing and boater safety education for youth and adults in Southwest Michigan.  He has also served as the Chairman of the Instruction Committee for over 10 years.

Chris is an avid runner participating in numerous marathons.  He and his wife, Amy, reside in St. Joseph with their three children.
