Roger E. Stephenson, 71, of Cassopolis, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, in the presence of his family.

Roger was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Cassopolis, Mich. to Alton and Evelyn (Stowe) Stephenson. He married Hazel L. Allen Nov. 25, 1961, in Dailey, Mich. She survives.

Roger was a licensed land surveyor for close to 50 years. He is the elected Cass County Surveyor, currently serving his third term.

Roger will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Hazel (Allen) Stephenson of Cassopolis; two daughters, Michelle Stephenson and Kaylynn Stephenson, both of South Bend, Ind.; four sons, Kenneth Stephenson of Cassopolis, Timothy (Tori) Stephenson of Milton, Ga., Thomas (Diane) Stephenson of Cassopolis, Mason Stephenson of Cassopolis; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Karen Lehman of Marcellus; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George Stephenson and Richard Stephenson.

Family and friends will gather Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis.
