Residents may contact my office for assistance with state issues

I am working hard to help grow Michigan’s economy, create jobs and improve government accountability. These are important issues that will help build a strong Michigan that can thrive today and for generations to come.

However, I also believe that public service begins with serving the public, so providing the best constituent service possible has always been a top priority. That is why I remain committed to helping the people of the 21st Senate District in any way I can.

Throughout my tenure in the Legislature, I have directly assisted 9,063 families and businesses in Southwest Michigan.

My office and I can help with a wide range of issues. I frequently assist residents who are having difficulties filing for unemployment or Department of Human Services benefits, or are looking for help with state tax issues. I also regularly help with business concerns about liquor licenses, or Michigan Economic Development Corporation small business inquires.

If you have trouble wading through government bureaucracy, please contact my office via email at SenJProos@senate.michigan.gov or by phone at (517) 373-6960. You may also mail me a letter at: Senator John Proos; P.O. Box 30036; Lansing, MI 48909.

I also encourage constituents to visit my official Senate website at www.SenatorJohnProos.com for useful information and details on what we are doing to improve the state’s economy and the quality of life of its people.

Under the Publications section of the site, residents can download free materials, such as the Michigan Taxpayer’s Guide 2014: A Reference for Tax Year 2013. The guide is designed to help residents prepare their state tax returns. It contains information on Michigan’s income tax, property taxes and tax credits and includes copies of the most commonly used tax forms and addresses, phone numbers and email information for obtaining state agency tax assistance.

As your senator, I am committed to helping — to the best of my ability — any Southwest Michigan resident who is having difficulty filing for a state service or communicating with a state agency.

As always, I also look forward to hearing your comments and feedback about ongoing legislative and state issues.

Sen. John Proos, R-St. Joseph, represents the 21st District, which includes Berrien and Cass counties and most of Van Buren County.
