Berrien County Prosecutor Michael Sepie announced Monday that he has promoted assistant prosecuting attorney, Steven Pierangeli, to the position of chief trial attorney.

Pierangeli is a nine-year employee of the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office and previously was an assistant district attorney in Colorado. During his years in Berrien County, Pierangeli has been assigned to the adult criminal trial division, Niles office, family division and currently is assigned to domestic violence court.

Additionally, Sepie appointed Jennifer Smith to the position of chief assistant prosecuting attorney. Smith is a 17-year veteran of the prosecutor’s office and was chief trial attorney under then prosecutor Arthur Cotter from 2006 until her promotion in 2013.
