The Niles District Library is offering a series of free sewing 101 classes to get people comfortable with their machine.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, the library will offer a basic sewing class, including how to use the machine and how to do a simple project. Attendees will learn to stitch straight lines, curves and corners/turns. By the end of class, those present will have a table runner for their spring decor.

Sewing with patterns will be covered at 1 p.m. April 5, and the mending and alterations class will be at 1 p.m. May 3.

The library will provide all the materials, but people will need to bring a portable sewing machine and all the accessories and attachments. Registration is required, as space is limited.

Contact the information desk at (269) 683-8545 ext. 112 to sign up.

As always, any program or event at the Niles District Library is free to the public.
