Niles holds off South Bend Clay 70-64

Gabe Stokes scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as Niles rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting South Bend Clay 70-64 in boys basketball action Tuesday night.

The Vikings (7-9) trailed 17-11 after one and 34-30 at halftime.

Niles outscored Clay 17-13 in the third quarter to knot the score at 47-47 heading into the final eight minutes.

That’s when Stokes took over and helped the Vikings hold off the Colonials.

Tate Brawley, who had surgery to repair his broken nose Monday, led all scorers with 24 points. Jeremy Wortham added 10.

Martavious Richmond had 17 points for Clay.

The Vikings are back in action tonight as they head to Benton Harbor to make up a Big 16 West Division contest with the Tigers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
