The Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee will be hosting an essay contest for Black History Month on Feb. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Cassopolis.

Youth from fourth to seventh grade will compete in an essay contest where they have written about famous black inventors.

Sam Adams Elementary teacher Felomina Patton is the coordinator of the essays. Local businesses who made donations to the Dr. Martin Luthern King Jr. Day events in January were so generous, that gift certificates and other gifts for the contest participants were available.

Refreshments will be served. Carmen Peake is the MLK program coordinator and can be reached at (574) 206-3484 or ppccarmen@aol.com.

The Church of Cassopolis is located at 520 Pearl St.
