Robert Ray Hand, 83, of Niles passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Silverbrook Manor.

Robert was born on Oct. 26, 1930, to Roger Hand and Alene (Zimmerman) Bowen in Niles. On March 20, 1949 he married Sylvia Jones at a ceremony in Buchanan, Mich. Robert worked as an Electro Plater Operator at National Standard and retired after 42 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sylvia Hand; two daughters Brenda Britton of South Bend and Pennie Butterworth of Niles; grandson, Roger (Hope) Janesheski of Niles; and five great grandchildren, Simon, Christina, Chaylin, Nathan and Matthew.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Barnes and Betty Long.

Funeral Services for Robert will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at Huntly Memorial Baptist Church, 1139 Huntley Rd, Niles, Mich. with Roger Janesheski officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m.
