The games are getting bigger for the Dowagiac basketball teams as the state tournament looms near.

The Chieftain boys basketball team needs a win over visiting South Haven Friday night to remain in the thick of the Wolverine Conference West Division race.

With every team in the league having a couple of losses, Dowagiac must defeat the Rams to keep their hopes alive.

The Chieftain girls team will also host South Haven.

Dowagiac is hoping to find some offense Friday night.

The Chieftains struggled again at the offensive end in their 54-13 loss ot Allegan Tuesday night.

The girls game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. with the boys game slated for a 7:15 p.m. start.

The Dowagiac wrestling team, which competed in the team districts Wednesday night (see story at www.leaderpub.com), will now turn its sights on the individual tournament.

The Chieftains travel to Paw Paw for the Division 3 tournament.

Wrestling begins at 9 a.m.
