Playing back-to-back nights may have contributed to Dowagiac’s slow start Tuesday night.

The Chieftains scored just 22 first half points against visit Allegan, but pulled it together in the second half to defeat the Tigers 66-45 in Wolverine Conference non-divisional boys basketball.

Senior Kyle Solloway had 14 of his game-high 27 points in the third quarter as Dowagiac took control of the game.

Leading just 22-16 at halftime, the Chieftains exploded for 28 points to open up a 50-24 advantage heading to the fourth quarter.

Brandon Winchester-Jones added 12 points for the Chieftains, who improve to 7-6 on the season.

Jake Clark led the Tigers (2-12) with nine points.
