Eddies fall short in upset bid against Wildcats

Defending Wolverine Conference West Division champion Three Rivers held off a late rally to defeat host Edwardsburg 52-42 Friday night in girls basketball.

Both teams got off to a slow start as they combined for just 12 first quarter points.

The Wildcats (10-1, 6-0 West) poured in 20 second quarter points to open up a 26-16 halftime advantage.

Three Rivers’ upped its lead to 40-23 heading to the final quarter, but was outscored 19-12 by the Eddies (7-4, 4-2 West) in the last eight minutes.

Olivia Hack had 14 points for Edwardsburg, which also got 11 points from Savannah Dixon and 10 points from Alexis Blake.

Teagan Reeves had a game-high 25 points for Three Rivers.
