Cass County Democrats make endorsements

The Cass County Democratic Party at its regular month meeting Jan. 21 announced its endorsements for the upcoming election.

They were Gary Peters, Mark Schauer, Paul Clements and Mike Moroz.

Here is a brief bio on each candidate:

Gary Peters — Candidate for United States Senate.  Congressman Peters currently represents Michigan’s 14th district. He was elected to Rochester Hills City Council in 1991, Michigan State Senate in 1994 and United States Congress in 2009.  He is running to replace retiring Senator Carl Levin who has endorsed Congressman Peters.

Mark Schauer —  Candidate for Governor.  Schauer is a graduate of Albion College, elected to the Battle Creek Commission in 1994, then elected to the Michigan State House of Representatives and later the State Senate.  He was elected to the 7th District of Congress in 2008.

Paul Clements — For Michigan’s 6th Congressional District. Paul is a graduate of Harvard University and received his doctorate degree from Princeton University.  Since 1996 Clements has been a professor of Political Science at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.

Mike Moroz — For Michigan’s 59th House of Representatives.  Moroz was born and raised in Dowagiac and is a small business owner. He ran for the 59th House seat in 2012 and is running to fill the open seat in 2014.  The 59th District includes all of St. Joseph County and most of Cass County.
