Jennie Lee Shepard, 74, of Niles, formerly of Cassopolis, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 in Lakeland Health Center in Niles.

Jennie was born Feb. 16, 1939 in Elkhart, Indiana to Clarence and Ruth (McKilway) Guy. She married Kenneth Eugene Shepard March 7, 1959 in an Army Military Police wedding in Fort Benning, Georgia. He preceded her in death four days before their fiftieth wedding anniversary on March 2, 2008.

She was also preceded by her parents; a twin brother who died in infancy; and one son, Timothy Allen Shepard.

Jennie was a Licensed Practical Nurse who worked at several area hospitals and nursing homes. She and her husband liked to camp. She was very “crafty,” crocheting and making doll clothing. She loved anything that had to do with family.

Jennie will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Terry) Brown of Buchanan, Pamela Larky of Rock Falls, Illinois; two sons, Kenneth (Dawn) Shepard, Jr. of Niles, Michael Shepard of Buchanan; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
