Winifred Smith DeShon, 100 years old, of Indianapolis, formerly of Niles, Mich., died Jan. 14, 2014.

Wynn was born in Detroit, Mich. on April 7, 1913. She is a graduate of Wayne State University. She married Frank DeShon in 1937, and together they raised their family in Detroit and South Bend, Ind. Frank predeceased her in 2004.

Winifred was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and needlework and was an avid bridge player. She was an active volunteer in her children’s schools and in her church and at Hoosier Village where she was a resident for thirteen years.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Jill Aslop of Avon, Ind. and Joan Reichenbach of Essex, Conn.; grandsons Carl Reichenbach, Daniel Alsop and Craig Reichenbach and granddaughter Nicole Alsop Arbuckle and six great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to offer special thanks to the wonderful staff of Hoosier Village Health Center who cared for her the past two years.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Hoosier Village Retirement Center Chapel, Indianapolis.
