Unofficial sources have reported the primary suspect in the Walmart arson that occurred Sunday morning is dead following a manhunt in the Granger, Ind., area.

Multiple sources report officials were questioning the subject at the home of the suspect’s father, located in the Saddlebrook subdivision in Granger, when he fled from the interview.

The suspect, who is said to be a Granger resident in his 30s, reportedly attempted to enter a number of homes in the subdivision and tried to carjack a woman in the neighborhood before fleeing. The suspect was found dead at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the backyard a home in the subdivision.

Reports say law enforcement officials confirmed the death of the suspect but are waiting to release the name of the suspect until the family of the deceased has been notified.

Public safety officials in Berrien and St. Joseph Counties were unavailable for official comment following the incident, but said more information will be released Wednesday.
