Colten B. Evans, of Dowagiac, is a third generation U.S. Army soldier and has been promoted to the rank of Specialist, E-4.

Specialist Evans is a U.S. Army Combat Infantryman serving with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment currently deployed in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

Specialist Evans has already been awarded the U.S. Army Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Army Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the Overseas Service Award.

Evans entered active duty with the Army in June 2012 and, upon completion of advanced infantry training at Fort Benning, Ga., was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry regiment based in Vilseck, Germany in October 2012.

The soldier is the son of Guy and Jackie Evans, and grandson of Brad and Louise Evans of

Dowagiac.
