Allan G. Martin, age 57 years of Cassopolis, Michigan died at 1 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at his home following a brief illness.

He was born on March 3, 1956 in Berrien Springs, Mich. to Louis and Virginia (Bolger) Martin. He was graduated from Riverside High School in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and attended Southwestern Michigan College. He was employed for many years as a Supervisor at Premier Tool & Die.

Allan enjoyed hunting and fishing in the area, and vegetable gardening.

He was first married to the former Mary Cummings, who preceded him in death on December 18, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by brothers, Billy martin, Jimmy Martin, and Tommy Lynn Smith.

On Sept. 30, 2000 he married the former Dana Lynn Phillips, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Allan Gene-Reeder Martin of Ionia, Michigan, PFC Jessica Nicole Martin, U.S.Army Reserve of Niles, Michigan, Marissa Little of Buchanan, Mich., and Austin Cole Martin of Cassopolis; and Allan’s brothers and sisters, June Collins of Crestview, Florida, Virginia Johnson of Hartford, Michigan, Timmy Martin and Johnny Martin, both of Watervliet; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Allan Martin will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Mark N. Saylor of Liberty Chapel in Dowagiac officiating. Committal will be at a later date at the Harris Cemetery in Hagar Township, Mich.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Contributions in memory of Allan may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
