The Design Committee of Niles DDA Main Street has announced the second printing of “Niles, Then and Now.”

Jeanne Watson, Design Committee member said the first printing of 300 books sold out in one month.

The design committee received a second printing of books Dec. 10. They are available now in Niles stores, including A. Casperson Books, Majereks, and Niles Styles.

In the near future, the book will also be available on Amazon.com.

“We anticipate that architects, artists and historians from other areas will purchase the book through Amazon,” said Watson. “When doing a search on Amazon for Kawneer or for commercial architecture in the Greek Revival or Romanesque style, ‘Niles, Then and Now’ will appear.”

This is the first book published by Niles DDA Main Street.

In addition to making a permanent record of the architecture in the historic business district, the DDA design committee is using the profit from sales to support historic business district projects, like facade and sign grants.

“We are very pleased with the community response to the book. Sales continue to be brisk,” said Fredda Zeiter, design committee chair.
