Preston Bennett, of Cassopolis, died Friday, Dec. 6, in Lakeland Medical Center in Niles. He was 59 years old.

Preston was born Oct. 15, 1954, in Chicago, to George Washington and Mary Magdalene (Horace) Bennett. His parents preceded him in death.

He was also preceded by his twin children, Karen and Kevin Wares; one sister, Pearlie Mae “Bobby” Bennett; and two brothers, Willie Ed Bennett and George Bennett Jr.

Preston will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two brothers, John Bennett of Vandalia and Roosevelt Bennett of South Bend; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, Dec. 14, from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. in Chain Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 16853 Chain Lake Street, Cassopolis, with the Rev. Norman Tubbs officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Preston’s name to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
