Donald Hartsell, of Dowagiac, died Nov. 28 at his home at Cable Lake. He was 80 years old.

He was born at his family’s farm home on the Marcellus Highway in Wayne Township to parents Guy and Genevieve Hartsell.

His love of animals, especially dogs, was unsurpassed. He had a great sense of humor and could be very amusing and entertaining.

The family is thankful for the all professional care given these last few weeks. Those who knew and loved him will miss him very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nina; brothers, Richard and Robert; half brother, Carlyle Hartsell; and half sister, Vera Patchett.

He is survived by his brother, Jack Hartsell; longtime close friend and caregiver, Russ Hopson; nieces, Guynel, Jolene, Paulette, and Jeanette; many grandnieces and grandnephews; and a host of friends.

Cremation has been entrusted to Clark Chapel in Dowagiac. Don has asked for no ser-vices. Memorials may be made to the Animal Shelter of Cass County. Those wishing to share a memory, or leave a condolence, may do so at www.clarkch.com.
