Mary Sue Phillips, 70, of Decatur died on Tuesday at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.

Mary Sue was born on May 13, 1943 in Sturgis, S.D., to Ivan and Gertrude (Wood) Davis. She was formerly employed by Sundstrand Corp. of Dowagiac and she farmed with her husband, Gordon P. Phillips.

The two were married on June 29, 1962 in Sturgis. He proceeded her death on March 1, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her father and a brother, Dan Davis.

She is survived by two sons, Todd (Tawnee) Philips of Decatur, Dan (Lucia MacLeod) Phillips of Kalamazoo; her mother; three grandchildren; five sisters, Nancy Davis of Aurora, Colo., Billy Jo Casteel of Newell, S.D., Lou Ann (David) Stelter of Berrien Springs, Gayle (Tom) Dillin of Piedmont, S.D., Kristine (Bob Bosworth) Davis of Lakewood, Colo.; sister-in-law Kathy Davis of Vancouver, Wash.; nine nieces and nephews; and 12 great nieces and nephews.

Cremation has already taken place. Memorial services will be held at a later date, with arrangements provided by Newell Funeral Home in Decatur.
