Gordon Winfield Bivens, 74, of Lawrence, Mich., died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Gordon was born in Ishpeming, Mich., on April 9, 1939, to Charles and Stella (Baker) Bivens. He was a professional logger for the majority of his life, and spent a great deal of time in Wisconsin and Minnesota in the forests logging. Gordon enjoyed working very much, taking drives, fishing, working on cars and telling stories.

Gordon is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Thomas Rose) Bivens, of Lawrence, Mich.; four grandchildren, Gordon Schultz, Ernest Lucia, Samantha Lucia, & Lewis Williams; seven siblings, Nancy Ketchum, Charlotte Bivens, Minnie Barnes, Eunice Schwake, Christine Mannisto, Gloria Kossows, & Kenny Bivens, his honorary daughter, Sharon Dorman-Lucia, of Duluth, Minn. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ernest Bivens.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, located at 405 Center St. in Dowagiac.
