Gertrude Alice Parm, 75, of Niles

Gertrude Alice Parm, 75, of Sturgis, formerly of Niles, passed away at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 following an extended illness, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 29, 1938 in Madison, Wisc. to the late Hyacinth and Alice (Pearson) Muskat. Living in Madison most of her younger years, she graduated from East Madison High School.

Gertrude married Willie Parm on June 6, 1962. He precedes her in death.

She worked many years at Simplicity Pattern of Niles and tended to her home and children, as they were her main focus. Gertrude also worked at Big Lots for a short time. In her free time she loved to work puzzles, watching scary movies, summer baseball and concerts at the park, ice skating, sewing and most of all spending time with her family, which was very important to her.

She is preceded by her son, Scott Parm as well as two brothers, James and Gerald Muskat and a sister Judith Muskat.

She is survived by three sons; Mike (Jodie) Parm of Elkhart, Indiana, Ken (Kris) Parm of Pulaski, Wisconsin, Timothy Parm of Green Bay, Wisconsin and a daughter Sheila (Chris) Kidd of Sturgis, Michigan, a sister Dorothy (Dewey) Dushack of Sun Prairie, Wisc., seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. David Otto, will take place at 12:00 Noon on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main Street, Niles, where friends and family may gather one hour prior to services. An interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
