Anita J. Born, 93, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Friday morning, Nov. 1, 2013, in the Timbers of Cass County.
Anita was born Jan. 24, 1920 in Mason Township, Michigan to Leland and Mildred (Curtis) Lindley. She married Harold O. Born in July, 1966 in Niles, Mich.. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Reid Lindley, Dean Lindley and three step-sons, Robert Born, Ralph Born and Harry Born.
Anita was a kind and loving person, although she could be opinionated and stubborn. No matter what, she was able to make you laugh. She absolutely loved children and cats. Anita was a follower of the Spiritualist religion and would do anything for anyone.
Anita will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by three step daughters, Barbara Jean Perry of Indianapolis, Dorothy Smith of Sturgis, Mary Berkshire of Elkhart, three step sons, Richard Born of Vandalia, Charles Born of Florida, Thomas Born of Cassopolis; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; special friends Penny Mickiewicz and Mickie Mahaffey, both of Cassopolis.
Family and friends will gather Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Graveside in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis with the Reverend Mardell Wilson officiating. Mrs. Born will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Harold Born.
